- Destination: Home is a new flexible assistance program for AVL and Buncombe County that will launch in September. $5M has been received for a three year initiative that includes assistance for rent, child care and other essentials to prevent 1,000 people from becoming homeless.

- Asheville applied for a $585,000 grant to study multimodal transportation on Hilliard. The corridor ranks as one of the most unsafe in WNC for pedestrians/cyclists. Read about what would be included in the study.

- Safe Streets for WNC Action Plan was adopted by French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization in August and Asheville adopted it in Dec 2025 with a goal of a zero fatalities and serious injuries by 2050.
